Open Blue is dedicated to bettering the communities around us and improving the lives of the local residents. As part of our community outreach efforts we are committed to increasing the educational attainment of local students; we provide bus support for the surrounding areas and ensure students have the proper learning environment. In 2014, we awarded 48 students with scholarships with plans to continue our efforts in 2015. In case you missed our announcement earlier this month, we are proud to say Open Blue Sea Farms has achieved the prestigious Global G.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance Standard.  This certification comes after a comprehensive assessment of Open Blue’s business by Quality Certification Services (QCS), an independent accredited certification body that covers the whole production process of our Cobia from the hatchery until the point of harvest and packing. Open Blue is proud to announce a major milestone in the construction of the new state-of-the-art hatchery Viento Frio. The hatchery is now operational and rearing its first group of fish after receiving 30,000 Cobia fingerlings into the nursery last month. This large-scale innovative facility will provide nursery and rearing space as well as a place to keep our broodstock and research tanks; with the capability to produce enough fingerlings to support 15,000 metric tons of grown fish.
